About OCW

Our Firm

Since 1975, O’Brien Coleman & Wright attorneys have been a force for justice for employees and victims of civil rights abuses. Our success is proven by some of the largest jury verdicts and settlements in Western Pennsylvania, including:

  • A thirteen million dollar sex discrimination and retaliation verdict;
  • A multimillion dollar settlement on behalf of retired VA nurses;
  • A one million dollar settlement for the family of a county jail inmate;
  • A million dollar age discrimination verdict for a county corrections officer.

We’ve also brought groundbreaking cases that have advanced the rights of everyone who earns a paycheck, encounters a police officer or interacts with government officials.

  • We received national attention for representing a police officer who refused to shoot a mentally ill man;
  • We handled the first third circuit case to prohibit harassment for failure to conform to gender stereotypes;
  • We obtained a third circuit holding that police cannot rely on unreliable witness statements;
  • We represented black high school students who were subjected to racially discriminatory disciplinary policies;
  • We sued a major hospital chain for disclosing pregnant women’s confidential medical information to child protective services;
  • We filed a class action against the City of Pittsburgh for using excessive force against non-violent protestors following the murder of George Floyd.

Our attorneys provide expert legal counsel, fearless advocacy and a support system that puts our clients’ interests first.
